Frequently Asked Questions

What technical documents are required on receipt of a building for PVC doors and windows?

PVC constructions (not hardware as a base material is not metal) are products like any other and must have attest documentation to accompany the technical reception of the building. In addition to attest documentation, which defines a class of quality, the PVC must have the technical acceptance and instructions on use and maintenance and warranty (not lifetime) in which the manufacturer guarantees the quality and smooth running (any manufacturer removes and repairs free of charge). Certificates, which show the quality class, are issued by authorized institutions and the instructions on the use and maintenance and warranty period - are issued by the manufacturers. In Serbia, the institutions authorized to issue attestations is the Institute for Materials Testing, Belgrade, Vojvode Misica Boulevard No. 43, (contact person architect. Slavisa Bogunovic +381-11-369-16-60).

What are certificates which show the quality of PVC constructions (windows and doors)?

  • attest to the waterproof class = classes A, B, C and D (A worst, D the best)
  • attest to the air permeability class = classes A, B, C and D (A worst, D the best)
  • attest to the special sound insulation = classes I, II, III, IV and special class
  • attest to the thermal protection, heat transmission coefficient k
  • approval on the type of plastic material and its shelf life and resistance to weathering.

All these certificates, as a rule, has PVC profile system manufacturer from which manufacturers purchase profiles and other PVC products. However, these certificates do not guarantee that the manufacturer has done everything by the book and direction, and therefore attestation of characteristic position of PVC needs to be performed in order to prove the quality class of the manufacturer. Such certificates are valid only for certain types of PVC profiles (VEKA, ALUPLAST, Vujic, REHAU, KOMMERLING, etc..), only for a specific series of PVC profiles (with 2,3,4,5,6 chamber, with 2 or 3 seals) and just for you as a manufacturer of PVC products.

What are the characteristic positions of PVC that are commonly tested?

These are :

  • single leaf windows with dry-keep fittings (as a more complex variant) and larger dimensions (about 800 x 1200 mm)
  • double leaf windows
  • single leaf balcony door
  • single leaf entry door with a threshold

Contractor who is required to tender to provide you with the technical documentation (seeds and technical descriptions) all necessary information about the required qualities of PVC provided for this facility. If this is not precisely stated, you as a manufacturer offers are required to specify the quality of your class has a PVC. Usually in practice the most important price, but the technical acceptance caused major problems. Typically, built-in woodwork classes to their quality is inadequate for the facility and the huge damage. For example: In Belgrade, all buildings that are connected to district heating plants in Belgrade, must have windows with attest to the air permeability such that it provides a maximum of two changes of air throughout the home for 1 hour. That basically means that they have approval to a class D for air tightness.
